Sokoto Assembly Lauds Governor Aliyu For Collaborative Leadership

Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Tukur Bala Bodinga, has lauded Governor Ahmad Aliyu for his inclusive and consultative approach to governance.

The Speaker made the commendation in an interview with journalists in Sokoto while assessing the two-year performance of the Assembly.

Bodinga said that despite the governor’s enormous power, he has consistently consulted with the Assembly and involved it in decision-making processes as recognition of the Assembly as partners in the Sokoto State project.

He said, “The relationship between the executive and the legislature is very cordial, and it is the same with the judiciary, although our interaction with the judiciary is limited due to their distinct roles as arbiters.

The Speaker noted that the three arms of government in Sokoto are married by the constitution to work in harmony in the greater interest of the people.

He attributed the smooth working relationship to Gov. Aliyu’s leadership, adding that the governor has treated the Assembly with utmost respect and considered it as partners in progress.

Bodinga said the Sokoto State House of Assembly takes its oversight functions seriously and, in fact, considers the effective monitoring of the executive on behalf of the people as a sacred mandate.

The speaker commended his colleagues for their dedication to the assignment of representation, lawmaking, and oversight, stating that they have ensured that the executive is held accountable.

He attributed the peace in the assembly and the successes recorded as a result of its leadership’s commitment to inclusiveness, transparency, and accountability, while emphasizing that every member is treated with respect and considered as a stakeholder in the state’s development.

He noted that the governor and the people agree that the Assembly has always stood by them and aligned itself with the interests of the state.

According to him, the Sokoto State House of Assembly has maintained its integrity and commitment to the people.

He further said, “This collaborative approach between the executive and the legislature has contributed to the success of the Sokoto State project, with the governor’s leadership style and the Assembly’s oversight functions working together to promote the state’s development,” he said.
