Nigeria’s sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan once again failed to sparkle in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Lausanne Diamond League.
Amusan finished a disappointing fifth in a time of 12.82 seconds, a far cry from her 12.25s last week at the Silesia Diamond League, where she finished third.
In Lausanne, Dutch star Nadine Visser stormed to victory in a season’s best time of 12.45s, followed by American Olympic champion Masai Russell (12.53s) and Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji (12.54s).
Jamaica’s Ackera Nugent came fourth in 12.57 s, edging the world record holder, Amusan, to fifth.
Amusan, 28, will continue her search to rediscover her fine form that gave her the world record of 12.12s at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, USA.
The victory etched her name in gold as she became Nigeria’s first-ever world champion in athletics. Currently she is the reigning African and Commonwealth champion.”
Amusan will now shift her focus to preparing for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, next month.
